Welcome! I’m Nick (he/him).
I work as a chaplain at MarinHealth Medical Center. My spiritual care practice is collaborative, trauma-informed, holistic, and person-centered. Endorsed by the Humanist Society, I am committed to supporting those who self-describe as nonreligious and religiously unaffiliated. I completed clinical training at UCSF Medical Center, McLean Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Before entering chaplaincy, I worked as a scholar of religion and of religious ethics. My research and teaching focused on Africana and African American religions, the history of Black religious thought, and the dynamics of racial formation and self-fashioning. I earned a PhD in religious studies at Brown University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for the Humanities at Tufts University.
